China's past Golden Week holiday has seen strong holiday consumption and sales. Chinese shoppers spent more during the domestic trip and staying-home.
According to Chinese customs agency, from Oct.1 – 8, the duty-free sales in Hainan tropical island soared by nearly 150% to 146 million EUR. Tourists in Hainan also increased by more than 40% to 146,800.
Alibaba reported that Chinese consumers continue to accelerate the consumption of imported goods from Tmall Global. A high consumption demands for the imported category such as supplements, pet food (+200%YOY), beverages & snacks, furniture (+50%YOY), and outdoor products, which have increased the spending by a double-digit percentage.
While domestic tourism and shoppers' have recovered due to pandemic reasons, Tmall Global, alongside with 8 global and national brands launched the golden week campaign across the state- to entertain the shoppers and tourists and to boost online spending.
